You’ve probably heard people say “you’ve gotta watch out for the quiet ones…” While Kate seems the cool & unassuming lady with her soft voice & Mona Lisa smile don’t be fooled. There’s an inner heat driving this dancing diva and a Sahara Desert dry sense of humor! How does this under- cover firebrand happen to be teaching Le Bop?
Although Kate wanted to take up some kind of dancing she had no idea what style to do until she heard about Le Bop through one of her sister Lisa’s friends. So our Kate went off to Le Bop the very next night and became a passionate addict immediately! That was October 2002. Now you can watch out for Kate at every Le Bop happening.
Kate’s competition and performance credits include first competing in March 2003 in Melbourne entering beginner freestyle and DWAS and picking up 2nd in DWAS at that first comp. Kate has gone on to achieve 1st Intermediate freestyle Sydney 2004, 1st team Melb 2004 (Groove is in The Heart), 2nd Intermediate freestyle Canberra 2004, 1st team Melb 2005 (Somebody to Love), 2nd Sydney 2005 (Somebody to Love). Kate has also done a double Katie act dancing in Battle of the Sexes with Le Bop’s Katy O’Shea, and performed the team routine Kiss From A Rose at the 2005 Le Bop Ball.
Kate’s all time dancing highlight is always changing, as she is constantly seeking new dancing challenges. Being asked to teach is her current best as it is the newest, and Kate enjoys Dance Camp for dabbling in other styles. Kate also loves the satisfaction of pulling off an initially terrifying aerial, and Kate has pulled off many. Once accomplished they’re never as bad as she thought!
So pay attention to Kate in class (and don’t lead the windmill – her least favourite move). Remember that behind her serene façade is a razor sharp wit which can cut you dead quicker than a flutter of Kate’s sooty lashes, but she’ll be smiling so sweetly you may not even notice.
